Sugar
was supposed to be my dream horse, but so far she’d been a white
nightmare.“You
crazy horse,” I chided her when she balked at the sight of a charred
cedar post
in the fence line. “You’ve been past that blackened pole before, and it
hasn’t
changed a bit. And it doesn’t have ghosts.”
Sugar
snorted and sidestepped, and it felt like I was sitting atop an
earthquake.
Putting pressure on her ribs with my heel, I encouraged her to walk
over to
inspect the post. Her muscular body tensed—her ears pricked forward and
her
neck arched in the bow shape that made Arabians so beautiful—and she
refused to
budge....
